Pictures of my Form 1 Engravings

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

Pictures of my Form 1 Engravings

Post by 1naylor »

So it's still just an empty can... but it's all threaded up, endcaps on, and engraving done.

It's a billboard on the can - I know... and it still needs some touching up - but I will get around to that.

I did several coats of high temp paint - let it dry and then wiped off excess with OOPS - but I still need to get a little more off - and fill in a few other spots.

Some of you - or all of you may hate this... but I love it. My first form 1 is underway. Next step is to put the endcaps on a SERIOUS diet - then turn the baffles and spacers and see how she turns out.

I like it how did you do it.Bold and beautiful.
The only reason after 243 years the government now wants to disarm you is they intend to do something you would shoot them for!

I like it. Plain engraving turned into it's own art. Way cool. I see someone may be setting a trend.

Wow... thanks guys. I was hesitant to post these pics since it's a little different.

Capt. I have a good friend with a CNC mill that has a 4th axis.

Designed the vector logo in illustrator and made a program from it for the mill.

High temp paint in the engravings.

Inspired. My only disappointment was
my hopes were dashed by being told that there was
no special tool, set up, etc., that would let one do it
at home. :)

Great work. Congratulations to the programmer too.

Thanks.

Nice.

Now, I just gotta get my CNC setup working...and figure out how to make my rotary table 'talk' to my 4th axis stepper.

Not that...
1> You need my approval
or that...
2> My approval is worth anything
...but I like it.

If you're going to do a Form 1, make it your own thing.

I like it too. How deep is that & how thick is the tube? Looks really deep, but that might be because of the paint.

That's cool!
I've got a buddy that IS an engraver and I'm going to have him do something cool like that too.

I have a little bench CNC mill that is just an incredible 2D engraving machine, but no fourth axis. I found that it was no problem at all to engrave a round tube so long as only one line at a time is done - got to manually move the tube for the next line - and so long as the height of the characters is not too great. It might be worth a try.

But yes for something like this, got to have that 4th axis.

They are really close up shots. It's .065 thick tube. The engraving is about .004 - I didn't know what I was going to do with it afterwards so we went a little deeper.

Yeah it's gunked up with too much paint in some places - not enough in others... but once it's all done I'll clean it up right.
