I've been trying to find the internal dimension of the piston that comes on the Gemtech L.I.D. http://www.gem-tech.com/store/pc/L-I-D- ... er-p96.htm for possible use with a form 1 can. I understand it's intended for a 9mm suppressor they sell.
Anyone have any info or specs?
Would the gemtech LID (nielsen)work on a form 1 .45 can?

Regardless the legality, the GemTech LID will not work for a 45 can.andromax wrote:I've been trying to find the internal dimension of the piston that comes on the Gemtech L.I.D. http://www.gem-tech.com/store/pc/L-I-D- ... er-p96.htm for possible use with a form 1 can. I figured as much, I'm assuming the piston isn't wide enough internally?
And, regardless of what legality?

B means that if you're an average Joe (not an industry professional with lots of special licenses) you cannot buy a silencer part for your form 1 silencer. Boosters, LIDs, Neilson devices ... whatever you want to call them ... are debatable. Some people say it's an accessory and some people say its a silencer part. What matters is what the ATF says though. Look at this link. The third post is the explanation you're looking for. viewtopic.php?f=10&t=108807&hilit=booster+silencer+partandromax wrote:And, regardless of what legality?
I've been looking for a booster rather than trying to make one for my .45 form 1 can, but I've finally decided to make one. I will be glad to give you the specs if it works like I hope it will.

Thanks, makes sense. I hope your nielsen works out for ya, I will probably just end up making my own for my .45 too. I am still kicking around how I want to integrate it.

Same legality issue as buying a GemTech, just made by a different company.whispershot wrote:Can you buy an swr booster compatible with a .45 can? I can't find one.delta9mda wrote:you can buy swr boosters all day. what you do with it is up to you. just saying

gem tec and liberty both sell boosters as stand alone.
I purchased a Liberty one last weekend at Silencer Shop. They did not have a gemtec in stock at the time.
you can also get the gemtec direct from there web page.
The gemtec one is 1/2 28 threads so good luck getting it to fit a 45
