Like to find old thread about OD threading tube for endcaps

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

and maybe a link....?

I've been waiting for someone to (hopefully) provide that link, because I'd like to re-read that thread too. Lately I've been thinking that the only reason people avoid OD threaded tubes is they tend to be ugly. For a very small weight penalty, end caps could be extended slightly beyond whatever thread length is deemed required, and the extra length tapered a bit on the end cap's OD. (The cap would taper toward the OD of the tube.)

At least this beholder's eye thinks this would be less ugly than a squared-off cap, if not exactly beautiful ;)

Thanks!
