Compact 308

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

Compact 308

Post by gunny50 »

Gents,
A while back I did have a post about shortening a barrel while still in the action.
Well here is the rest.
Shortening original Handguard, in such a manner that Thermal sights can be used.
Titanium QD with 17/4 connector hardened and QPQ finished.
MB is 17/4 and QPQ. Thread protector 316Ti and QPQ.
Silencer all Ti, welded core, Tube made from bar, core pressed in tube and welded to each baffle and front and rear.
Ceracote, and laser engraved.

Gunny you honor us with the flawless work you exhibit.
The only reason after 243 years the government now wants to disarm you is they intend to do something you would shoot them for!

Il weight it Monday when I am back in shop.
It has a 2 point connection for the MB.
Special developed blastbaffle and highly modified M baffle And new type end-cap.
Can is rated for 30 cal magnum.
Same material specs as the 338lm Silencers I build just a lot shorter as it for 308 and build to be an overall compact package.
Barrel 12" on this gun anther I shortened them.
Will edit text when back as I am doing this on iphone. In the field. ( edited text )
G28 adapted by me.

Looks awesome! Would love to know some specs as well.

Also how well does that muzzle brake attachment work? Thinking of doing something similar with my upcoming .223 can. Thanks

That's really sweet work. Very nice. I like the idea.

What's the muzzle flash like without the can? I'll assume it's not really designed to be shot in that configuration though. Have you tried it at night?

What kind of velocity loss is there with that barrel length?

The weight including the 17/4 inserted connector = 568 / 570 gram
Weight of MB= 145 / 147 gram
Weight of MB with thread protector= 202 - 205 gram
Diameter of silencer at widest point = 47mm
Length of the silencer = 194mm
Length extending the barrel = ca 148 mm
Length extending the MB = ca 111 mm
Weight of silencer including MB = 715 gram

The Special developed blast baffle keeps back pressure low, and the new type end-cap makes sure that flash in rapid fire / controlled FA burst, in this short can is almost non existing and gives a pleasing sound
As mentioned Silencer is rated for 30 cal magnum.
Walls on this silencer are designed to withstand full magnum pressure, as we all know special loads in 308 and 12" barrels will do more than most know.
Safety is high priority as system is designed for special work environments / situations.
Same material specs as my 338LM Silencers that I build just a lot shorter as it for 308 and build to be an overall compact package.
Made 2 designs for this gun system ULTRA compact and compact silencer.
Request was that whole system was super compact, low back pressure, and QD.
Not to intervene with rails - lasers - lights - NV - Thermal sights, to be able to have a silencer sleeve mounted etc etc.
Package delivered with MB, thread protector, SD, Blank Adapter , concussion / blast protector.
Gun is used with can 95% of the time
G28 adapted by me. as a special entry, CQB - Protection team weapon system, barrel 12" on this gun after I shortened them.
This was done on H&K G28 but can be done on all weapon systems, as we do adapt the whole system to be functional and reliable with all ammunition used by users.
Weapon is remarkably compact and accurate with brake and silencer, shoot groups close to 0,5 - 0,75 moa.

Sorry no pictures of inner parts we worked 2 years on developing this new silencer line for MOD and L&E work.

Photo of Locking system will be uploaded tonight.
Flash in daylight is no problem (not visible), at night it is okay, but differs between munition types used.
But as mentioned above it was designed to be used as a system that is shot with can most of the time.
Recoil reduction and jump are fantastically handled.
With this 12" barrel and my brake only so NO can, the user can see impact at 300 meters on target shot from bipod or sandbag. Recoil is straight back and feels like 556.

Will try to make some night pictures in a few weeks when back on range.
