Barrel threading anyone?

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

Barrel threading anyone?

Post by woolee »

I have a GSG 5 and I would like to have the barrel threaded. I am not sure if I am posting this in the right place or not. If I am not please advise on where it should be posted. I want to thread the barrel like a Sig Mosquito(9m x .75) and unfortunately my lathe does not do metric threads. I have already paid someone to thread the original barrel and that didn't turn out good. Somehow the barrel got bent in the process. So now that I have a new barrel, I would like some help to find a reputable source to thread my barrel. I also have a PTG range rod that fits the barrel. BTW it is not the standard size that most 22 barrels are. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ADCO
GemTech
Tornado
JP Grips

To name a few.

Or you can contact a LGS in your area for a simple thread job.

Another shop to have in Rolodex is
EWK Arms*.

Their work on S&W M41's for example is top notch.

Unfortunately I have already tried the LGS and that is why I need some other source. My main concern is that I send my barrel off and not see it for a year or longer.

Or go for a year or longer with it unthreaded for fear of sending it off.

Welcome to the molasses paced world of NFA ownership. It's not a hobby for the impatient or the hesitant.

I would like to thank doubloon for mentioning JP grips. That one was not on my radar but I'm glad that it is now. I'm sure that the other companies listed do quality work, but I chose JP grips. Jim did an outstanding job on my barrel and had it back to me in a couple of weeks. He also charges a very reasonable fee for his services. Thanks again for the reference.

I've never used him myself but he has been recommended here more than once. Glad to know you're happy with the results, I got a barrel in the safe I just may have to send his way now.
