My bud finally got his form back to start making chips for his can , its going on an 8" barreled carbine.
gonna be grade 5 titanium (rear cap/blast chamber and #1 baffel) and 7068 aluminum.
OD is set at 1.375" so im thinking 1.225" ID and OAL is gonna be 8"
Was initially planning K Baffles with a 45-50 degree cone so they are a little shorter possible allowing an extra one in their.
Anybody have any input as to what baffles work best , is their a better desgine for a non piston can for the 9mm?
he is gonna be learning how to run the mill and lathe on this project so hopefully we can make its a very worthy and fun experience.

Nice machining, what machines did you use?
In regards to the baffle, I would go K's for a 9mm.
You might consider to machine a small snout on them.
What model blast baffle are you going to make?

I was planning on just using a K to start as the blast baffle.
What I was imagining as the K's is exactly what you have with the short nose and little "moat"around it.
The lathe im using is a 30+ year old 14×60 LeBlond the mill is a 10x54 Bridgeport

We use a good bit of 2024 And 2090 where I work.
both are strong but kinda gummy to cut and about 1/2 the yield strength of 7068. Granted 7068 isway more expensive i don't mind the cost knowing its stregth 96ksi range which isn't far behind grade 9 titanium

Looks nice so far. I would use K-baffles, I use 6 K's for my 9mm Ar's. The only other advice I would give is to shorten the barrel on the host, if you go 5" or less standard ammo will stay sub sonic.

the first baffle was chucked up in a index head set at 40 degrees and a .375" flat end mill was plunged in creating the scoop in the front and hole into chamber. for the remaining baffles we will set the index strait up and run a ball mill into the bore and walk it to the side creating a scoop into the bore hole , then flip the baffle over and do the same thing 180 degrees out from the first scoop. The baffle head will be .250" thick and the end mill will be run in .187" deep. The front face of the baffle will have a crescent shaped groove milled .187" deep stopping in the back across from the front bore scoop so it doesn't cut into the rear bore scoop.
I'm fairly certain that its gonna have 8 baffles total with the rear one fitting into the rear cap.
