Hello,
Here are some pictures of a silencerco 51t maad mount. I am using it on my form 1 5.56 can. It uses a relatively simple 10 degree taper and 1.375-32 thread.
Here is a quick "brake shield" I made to verify my angle measurement.
I think the silencerco maad mounts are excellent starting points for a form 1 can. If you can cut a reliable 10 degree taper, and make nice 32tpi threads you are good to go.

Thank you for posting this. Both the pics and the specs are especially helpful!
Re: Inside a Silencerco 51t MAAD mount
I was just recently looking at doing this exact same thing. Can you give me the dimensions for how long to make the threads end to shoulder and the taper?
I have the trifecta MAAD mount and I don't really want to take it apart and as you know its very hard to get a good measurements.

Bringing this one back from the dead. Anyone know the secret to disassembling the 51t MAAD mount? Looking to make one out of titanium or at least the center piece.

I don't have one of these, but, from the pics, it looks like drifting out that split-pin would allow everything to be unscrewed. Yes?themonk wrote:Bringing this one back from the dead. Negative. Tried that - he pin is just a stop.T-Rex wrote:I don't have one of these, but, from the pics, it looks like drifting out that split-pin would allow everything to be unscrewed. I'm curious, and a bit bored, so I'm gonna give another stab at it.themonk wrote:Negative. Tried that - he pin is just a stop.
The pin should be a stop, stopping everything from unscrewing.
Drift pin 5 out
Rotate 6 on 4 (CCW) until it pinches on 3 and stops turning
Unscrew 4 from 1 (CCW). This might be the difficult part because there looks to be nothing to secure part 1 with.
Rotate 6 on 4 (CW) and 3 should be able to be removed.

That was our first guess and the answer is no. I may call SiCo and see what they say. Thanks for the try though.

Most likely will say, there is no need to take it apart so don't worry about it.themonk wrote:That was our first guess and the answer is no. I may call SiCo and see what they say. Thanks for the try though.

Roger that but may be worth a try if all else fails.Bendersquint wrote:Most likely will say, there is no need to take it apart so don't worry about it.themonk wrote:That was our first guess and the answer is no. I may call SiCo and see what they say. Thanks for the try though.

Still, why would they tell you or help you take it apart so you can copy it?themonk wrote:We would like to make one out of titanium as the thing is a pig.Bendersquint wrote:Most likely will say, there is no need to take it apart so don't worry about it.themonk wrote:That was our first guess and the answer is no. Ti doesn't drop the weight THAT much anyways and the mount gets REALLY hot fast
Re: Inside a Silencerco 51t MAAD mount
Sorry, I missed your quote above which caused an early edit on my last post.
That adapter is a pig at 4oz and its going to be paired with an Omega. It would be nice to keep the overall weight of that can down.
I have a machinist friend who is just interested in the challenge of it and we have some excess titanium.

Just be careful that your parts don't get classified as silencer parts.themonk wrote:Sorry, I missed your quote above which caused an early edit on my last post.

I am definitely interested in seeing how light yours will be, I know mine was right under 3oz.

Re: Inside a Silencerco 51t MAAD mount
Got it. Thanks T-Rex for at least trying to help. SiCo was helpful in pointing us in the right direction of breaking though some loctite, once that's done it all spins apart.
Anyone need more detailed instructions PM me.
