Working on my form 1 can / .308 with titanium tube, baffles , end caps , SS blast baffle , etc.
I am using the classic 30 /60 degree cones and as I understand clipping them helps dwell ( slow down) the gas expansion and induces turbulence.
Looking at various other designs what would be the best style to clip mine for maximum performance ?

Re: Clipping cones / best form to clip them
I've decided to follow in the footsteps of those before me and go with the triple clip.

Nice job. looks like my 375 cheytac can parts are laying on your desk .
I think I am going tripple clip on all but first and last also . ( total 60 baffles)

I will have to search for a good link or image of the "triple clipped" baffle.
I have most of the hard stuff done thus far like all my baffles cut and mostly complete. I need to make my 5/8-24 threaded mounting end that will be TIG welded to the titanium tube and a threaded end for the tube exit.

Thanks for the pic, link & info.
Some parts porn....
Titanium tube ready for ends. Steady rest marks not cleaned up yet but after welding. The bronze plug sticking in the end I turned to gauge the ID all the way through. The little stack of baffles are all grade 5 titanium with one stainless steel blast baffle.
My work schedule is killing me, I would rather make suppressors....

Re: Clipping cones / best form to clip them
Just a few crazy questions.
Normally cones are clipped with rounded cuts. I wonder if it would affect performance, either good or bad, if the cuts were either square or a V notch? I guess it would be easy enough to test for someone who is building, cut in a V notch then turn it into a rounded notch.
Also, which is preferred? A straight cone or one that has a curve in the cone like what is in an Octane?
One more crazy question. Which is better a cone that is full diameter, like those in this thread, or one with a step?

It is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth-and listen to the song of that siren, till she transforms us into beasts

clipping is either a step cut like aac or the scallop cut like swr did/ does
