Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

Suppressor thread size

Post by redbullitt »

I think this is the right place for this... Please move if necessary.

I have two lever rifles I would like to suppress, and I need to figure out what threading to use on the suppressors and the barrels. One is a marlin 45/70 guide gun (Approximately .458 bore, .775 OD barrel). It will be used for subs and full power loads. The other rifle is a Rossi 92 in 357 mag ( Approximately .358 bore, .645 OD barrel) used for subs and full power loads.

I want to keep the barrels thick enough to do their job, but I would like to get enough shoulder for the suppressor to butt up against.

Planning to use a bowers VERS 50 and a Liberty Mystic X.

What do you guys think?

Stick to standard threads........ .578 x 28 for the 45/70
1/2 x 28 for the .357
