Call me ignorant, but I had no idea that Titanium is flammable!
Magnesium I knew about, but I thought Ti was a wonder metal of the space age.
A few thin shavings, a little spark and instant eruption! Fortunately it poofed and subsided so fast I didn't have time to panic. It's not the stupidest thing I've ever done, but it's probably the worst that I'll admit to.

Steel wool or very fine chips and a 9V battery make great fires........

Been there, done that. Titanium on a lathe can be exciting.
