OK for starters thank everyone for all of there information on here.. I was on here years ago but have lost my log in information..
To get some things clear I own multiple class 3 weapons and in no way shape or form am going to do anything that can even be thought of as on the edge of breaking the law
With that said I would like to have all my "ducks in a row"
I have lathe access but have very little skill when it comes to doing anything to complex.
here is my plan
VR baffles with a od of 1.375
spaced out with SS tubing
SS tube from diversified machine with a YHM qd end.
I will be running it on a 8.5" 300blk.. mostly sub sonic...
Ideally i want a can i can take apart for cleaning so i can use my cast bullets
Edit here.....
Ok if I go with a SS can and TI spacers with TI VSR... what is the chance of the TI cold welding its self to the SS... I think this would only be a Issue with TI caps and a SS tube or the reverse...
I am about to email Chris

Re: building a Form 1 suppressor
Your plan will definitely work. I did this with a 1.5" spacer for the blast chamber and then .85" and .65" spacers. One of the spacers in the middle was in the .71" range to make the stack fit the tube. After clipping and milling out dome material out of the back of the Valve retainers the can was very quiet, mine was a 30 caliber. Sound was better than a SDN6 and slightly under a Liberty Freedom, length was between those also. I had built a shorter length also. PM me if you want a link to the youtube videos of them.king9 wrote:OK for starters thank everyone for all of there information on here.. I was on here years ago but have lost my log in information..

Re: building a Form 1 suppressor
i did see your videos... i did PM you as well..... My over all goal is keeping the OAL of barrel and can under 16"
I have a YHM 762 suppressor right now.. and while i like it, I would like a suppressor that i can clean so I can load cast like I said priviously..
right now I have a ar15 10.5" and 8.5 ", a rem 700 in 300blk and the handi rifle....
also have a 11.5" ak that i just finished and a 11.5" 5.56 ar....
i am running the YHM qd on all my 300blk as well as my 5.56.. this is the reason i wanted my form 1 can based on that addaptor

Re: building a Form 1 suppressor
Sounds like c5_nc can help you out here.
As for your rounds, look into powder coating your cast loads. No need to ever clean anymore. Better velocities and consistent, too. Not hard to do, at all, and I don't even spray them so its easier and mess free.

Re: building a Form 1 suppressor
Am I correct that a general rule for bore size of a baffle is .06 over.... ie.. .308 you would go .368....
I am leaning towards opening the bore up to accommodate
Up to 9mm... so .357 + .060.= .417 bore
Is this true or just rubbish I found somewhere

Good info, I was just always told .370" for .30 cal with no real explanation how the number .370 was determinedking9 wrote:Am I correct that a general rule for bore size of a baffle is .06 over.... ie.. .308 you would go .368....

Don't say good info just yet... I am not 100% sure what I asked is true... I was asking if it is

Re: building a Form 1 suppressor
0.06 is the normal I've seen recommended as it gives you 0.03 per side to avoid baffle strikes. Of course, shorter silencer tubes might be able to have less of a tolerance...king9 wrote:Don't say good info just yet... I am not 100% sure what I asked is true... I was asking if it is
Re: building a Form 1 suppressor... eddited for new questions
You can use a nickle (copper-free) anti-sieze on the threads. If you have complete tube it will probably come with it already on there, but it is always good to keep on hand.king9 wrote:

.060" is the "normal" recommendation, and it is said that performance start to more significantly fall at .090-.100+ over.

Plus, if you have a thin application of anti-seize on the spacer OD, the 2 metals never touch.

I think you meant 4 weeks to get the form one then and only then order a solvent trap.

Re: building a Form 1 suppressor... eddited for new questions
Not a save it's the truth... 4 to 6 weeks for the trap
And if my form 1 goes the average 30 to 40 days
Then all is well... my wording was miss leading
Like my first post states I will not be doing anything that could even be considered in the fringe of the law....

So still haven't got anyone from the atf to help me with the form 1 situation. .... some one did call me yesterday but since atf had not given me a control number yet he could not help
Now I have a control number and it's pending
So it looks like it will be rejected and I will have to go from there

Email Ted.clutter @ atf.gov with your issue and the control number he will get you taken care of right away. I had an issue last week and was fixed with approved status in less than a hour after I sent the email.king9 wrote:So still haven't got anyone from the atf to help me with the form 1 situation. .... some one did call me yesterday but since atf had not given me a control number yet he could not help
