HTG Aries baffle picks

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

HTG Aries baffle picks

Post by fastfire »

I have a HTG Aries I bought rite before George left the USA. I am happy with the sound it has.
I saw the baffle pictures here,http://www.rrdvegas.com/silencer-cleaning.html
.
I am taking my time readying for a 30 cal form 1. Do the HTG 30 cal cans have the same type baffles as the Aries 5.56 can?

Yes they use the same patented baffles.

I'd really like to see more detailed pictures of the baffles if someone has them. 8)

I posted a mess of them a few years ago so they should still be out there somewhere.

I too scoured for you. No more than what you've probably seen.

I did a patent search and found this

After closing his doors, George licensed his work to Black Rain Ordnance.

I did an image search for them and found the following:

At 8" and 28oz, they're not the lightest design to go with. If I remember correctly, the HTG design arrived at it's low decibel reduction, mostly, due to its tight bore dimension. This is something of a debate about safety and tolerances. If you are sure of your machining and your bbl's threads, maybe you can lighten the design. It, however, is still a patented design.

Then, doing a search of George M Vais, I found that after closing his doors, he went to work with Black Rain Ordnance.
George does not work at BRO. He licensed the patent to BRO and then he went back to Greece.

George did my gunsmith work for years before I got the NFA bug.
BRO told me they made some changes to the baffles of HTG cans.
I was in their manufacturing shop twice when they were in Boise.
