K-baffle scoop alignment?

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

K-baffle scoop alignment?

Post by rqlasl »

Can alignment of the scoops in a row, opposite each other have an effect on bullet travel or cause yaw?

The instructions that came with my Tirant say to orient each baffle 180 degrees from the next during assembly. Being male, I didn't read the instructions the first time and stacked them all the same, didn't notice anything unusual on the first firing.
Proper grammar is awesome.

Not K's, but SWR recommends aligning the notching when reassembling an Octane 45HD.
I have tried it with them oriented 180* out of alignment and even in a spiral pattern.
I really didn't notice any discernible changes.

You are comparing apples to oranges. The CTA and the K are opposite ends of the spectrum.

MOST K's work the best by aligning 180 degrees off the one above it in the stack.

I'm not comparing anything.
This is exactly why I wrote "Not K's".

As far as K's working best 180*, why don't most Mfrs do this then?
AAC Element 2 Has them 180*.
Gemtech's video for the outback has you put them in a variety of directions.
Tac65 says to rotate them 90*, spiraling.
Huntertown Guardian 22 says to rotate them 90*, spiraling.
AAC Pilot 2 has the vent holes aligned.
Even the new Ti-Rant suggests aligning the vent holes.

Also, you yourself have stated, and I'm quoting
Bendersquint wrote: Through all our testing as well we can't see any correlation to positioning of the ports to accuracy or sound reduction. Again as RQ said, we are not meters though we don't hear any difference, but we can see accuracy and haven't noticed any changes in that.

We don't notice the difference neither does anyone on the ranges.

Do you have data, that you can share, to which your claims, either way, will be proven?
It would help a lot of us Form 1 guys to get it right the first time.

Thanks

Thank you gentlemen. I'll verify alignment and retest when the weather breaks.
