So I decided to build the other 22 form I had. The original discussion can be found here.
I ended up going with the second design. This was not the favorite of the group, but I so wanted to try it. I modified the final design, slightly from the original. I went with 6 K's inside a 1-5/8" x .065 tube. The reflex portion receives its gases via 6, radial holes in the blast baffles which connect to the outer vented chamber. The K's are a pretty standard design, aside from their enlarged facial diameter.
Here it is, about 95% accurate.
The end caps and baffles are 7075. The over-barrel spacer/tube is 6061. The barrel mount is 316. The tubing is 4130.
There are 6, radial, through holes around the blast baffle. They're 7/64 dia.
The rear cap, barrel mount and over-barrel spacer are press fit, I used heat to make sure the interference is tight. The rear cap has an o-ring groove to snug fit to the barrel.
The outer groove in the baffle face is there simply because the tool bit was telling me to remove more material.
These pics are from after the test firing, hence the grime.
This is the platform it was made for, a Spikes Tactical, ST-22, 4.5", dedicated 22 upper, w/ Ciener Bolt. Registered SBR for a long time. Now, I think I need a 7" rail.
AAC Pilot underneath.
So, how does it sound?
I don't think it could have been made to be any quieter, honestly. All you hear is the Ciener Bolt reciprocating. It is too damn loud. I was going to try this on my Savage FVSR, but the barrel is too thick. I fired it on my little Mossberg Plinkster (semi-auto) whilst holding the bolt closed. Extremely quiet w/ CCI standards. Even Rem Yellow Jackets were quieter than an air rifle, in the AR. There is really no FRP, well none that makes a POP. The first round just seems to have a deeper/thicker tone than the subsequent shots. I tried to capture some video, but it just wasn't matching what my ears were actually hearing. I moved the camera to different positions and distances with no luck.
I guess I could have gone the traditional, and suggested, route. However, I just wasn't satisfied stuffing a 1" suppressor inside of a larger tube. I went out on a limb and I'm very glad I did. Now I need to clean it all and put a finish to it. The Al will be anodized and I'm contemplating what to do with the 4130. I don't have any Cerakote around, but I do have half a rattle can of stove paint left-over. It is good to 1200F and the final look is close to what Id be going for.
For those who gave input on the original design, thank you.

Very cool and something different (not that proven designs aren't proven for a reason). Thank you for sharing! Glad to hear the lack of FRP.

Nice work, well done
Of all the things I've lost it's my mind I miss the most

well done, perfect look for the rifle
Re: 22lr reflex build complete
Nice post.
Clean work.
I do like the finished look on the rifle. Give is a certain amount of street cred. Paint is a shade or two of tan and somebody at the range might just ask you if it's a Honey Badger.
