Researching Tube Thickness for 9mm

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

Researching Tube Thickness for 9mm

Post by Generation_Kill »

I am curious as to what material and corresponding tube thicknesses are being used for both 9mm carbine and pistol suppressors. I have referenced the complete builds list but there are some gaps in the data provided by builders.

Any information anyone can provide would be most appreciated!

Thanks,

You meant .065 wall thickness right? Otherwise he ends up with .2 of usable volume

Yes I have made a few (all from Al.) and go for around 0.065 also

I also sleeve the blast chamber with a stainless liner (it acts as the spacer), only needs to be 0.030 to 0.040 wall.

Cheers

Where are you-all getting your 7075 tubing from? I found a source of 2024 tubing, but they want me to buy 6 feet

Onlinemetals (my go-to for straight, cheap tubing) only has 6061 in sizes and thicknesses I would consider using. Speedymetals also just has 6061 and in my experience their tubing isn't as concentric as tubing from onlinemetals.

7075 tube can be up to 10x the cost of 6061.
The 6061 will be fine.
