Sparrow clone

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

Sparrow clone

Post by unknownpro »

Decided I would try and clone the sparrow. Its not an exact match and I did add 2 extra pockets because I needed the extra length.

Diameter - .950
Weight - 5.25oz
Material - 316 stainless
Total Weight - 10.9oz

I have several stamps. When I say several, I mean multiple stamps in the same round.

I also have a few friends that come over and hit the "go button" and I post them. They are not all mine.

It's definitely as you said not a direct clone but you can certainly see the sparrows influence. This makes me want a mill or maybe just a milling attachment for the lathe and a week to cut all that out.

Couple of questions. Is the inner tube split to render the two half-shells which are so central to the ease of dismantling and cleaning with the actual Sparrow? (If not, I'd wonder why bother using an inner tube since that will be difficult to slide apart - the reason for the split-shell innovation.) And considering the Sparrow's one rather well known weakness, a rather obvious first round pop on pistols, have you tested yet and determined whether your example shares this trait? Nice work all around, very tidy indeed.

Is that a second tube?
I just thought it was a pic before milling.

Ah, I see what you mean. Silly me, of course it's the core blank. Guess the O-rings provide enough stand-off to facilitate ease of removal then.

The o-rings are for centering inside the tube. They are not really designed to do anything more. Haven't tested it yet, maybe in a few days.

Great now you gotta quiet the bolt down. Is that a FVSR by chance? I just picked one up.

Yes, it's an fv-sr. I was racking the bolt pretty fast and the spent casings were hitting my atv.

Next week I'll do another video.
