Taking a look at Silencerco's three lug, that shoulder they have for the threads, is that for a contact engagment of a mating shoulder inside the can, or is that for an O-ring?

Fat chance, but does anyone have the thread spec for Silencerco's thread length and shoulder?
Sealing off gas to threads, O-ring or contact shoulder?
Re: Sealing off gas to threads, O-ring or contact shoulder?
Mine didn't come with an o-ring, it just stops on the booster housing when screwed on tight, same with the fixed barrel spacer. I don't know if that answers your question, or not.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I'm thinking he wants the specs for the 3 lug adapter
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Re: Sealing off gas to threads, O-ring or contact shoulder?
why can't you release the thread specs? Op get a thread gauge and measure it out for yourself.

Hmmm ... may have to google harder.RJT wrote:I'm thinking he wants the specs for the 3 lug adapter

Re: Sealing off gas to threads, O-ring or contact shoulder?
Yea, thanks smartass, but be my guest. I looked, found nothing except the difference between Gemtech's and Silencerco's major and minor pitch.doubloon wrote:Hmmm ... may have to google harder.RJT wrote:I'm thinking he wants the specs for the 3 lug adapter
No Oring. So Bender, can you are least say that the shoulder before the threads is indexing/sealing contact with a mating shoulder?

I wasn't being a smartass I was saying "I" may have to google harder.este wrote:Yea, thanks smartass, ...doubloon wrote:Hmmm ... may have to google harder.RJT wrote:I'm thinking he wants the specs for the 3 lug adapter
But since you're being such a dense d*khead about it I'll keep the answer I found.

Re: Sealing off gas to threads, O-ring or contact shoulder?
the pic may be deceiving. looks like a negative shoulder just behind the threads. from pics alone, looks like 3/4 6/.25
detail Z with very small radius for N, or its kept at or below minor thread dia, just depends on if the mating thread wall/hole on the ID is chamfered or left sharp.

Oh, sensitive sally, I'm sorry. I'll just order a 3-lug from my dealer and measure it out and look at a can in person.doubloon wrote: But since you're being such a dense d*khead about it I'll keep the answer I found.

It's called a relief cut.A normal feature when threading to a shoulder.silencer_kid wrote:the pic may be deceiving. looks like a negative shoulder just behind the threads. from pics alone, looks like 3/4 6/.25

The only reason after 243 years the government now wants to disarm you is they intend to do something you would shoot them for!

A threading relief cut is more specific to location and use while a undercut is more a general term.silencer_kid wrote:yes, and also "undercut".Capt. Link. wrote: It's called a relief cut.A normal feature when threading to a shoulder.

Re: Sealing off gas to threads, O-ring or contact shoulder?
agreed. "relief" is like you say, more specific. but i see no reason to try and correct "undercut" because a relief is just a special type of undercut, just as a square is a special type of rectangle.

and btw, not sure where the admin on this site is, but the default style here using white text on light gray is horrible.
