Analysis software for modeling suppressors?

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

but you forgot to say, all you "pros" here should follow steps 1-4..... not sure what makes a "pro" here, maybe 5k+ posts, or if you like to enforce laws, or if you know how to dial a phone to a FBI field office, or maybe its just because you say-so. whatever it is, you should follow steps 1-4.

^this

I have comsol with the acoustic module and its used to evaluate acoustophoresis and even simple models require an entire server room to process and even that can run for days and still may not give you a viable solution. I met with engineers from ansys and comsol and the best model I got was a 2d slice the military had tried to evaluate of a nondescript artillery shell being fired. We really need to consider fluid flow in a 3d environment to even come close to accurately depicting the event of a bullet uncorking from a barrel and passing through a series of baffles.
