Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.
Another one fresh off the lathe.
This one is 8" long but the mount reflexes back over the barrel 2". 304ss mount, blast baffle and chamber; 316ss tube; the remaining baffles and end cap are 7075 (soon to be anodized)
Upper has a stainless 7.5" barrel. Shown next to a 10.5" upper for length comparison. It's roughly 1" longer than a 10.5" with A2 flash hider
I'll have to bring it to work to weigh it on the postal scale. I have shot it yet, trying to find time this coming weekend to anodize the baffles first.
