Changing the caliber and length on Form 1

Can you Change the caliber and length on Form 1 once it is submitted(Efile)?
If you submitted has a ".22lr caliber" can you still build it up to .17Hmr and not in violation?
I have herd that you can build shorter but not longer than submitted in your Form 1, is that correct?
Like always your guy's/gal's input/s and comment/s is greatly appreciated.

You're confusing caliber with OAL.

You are certainly allowed to build a 22lr suppressor and fire .17 caliber rounds through it.

Don't submit 12" then build 6".

That may fool your wife but it might not fly if the ATF ever inspected the paperwork.

So I'm guessing that it's a NO on the length question.. I was thinking more like submitting 10" and maybe making 7" or 8" (or even up to 10") just not to sure on the length but would like to start the Form 1. Want to make 5.56 Cal., can, but 10" just seem's a bit to long. and I don't have a lehigh to cut any of the baffle's or tube, so I'm going to basically buying all the parts..

Old logic was to always list it a little larger than you thought it would be as a silencer shorter than the approved length is ok in BATFE mindset as repairs are allowed.

Recently there have been writings about that BATFE says use best guess and if it ends up different after construction to notify them with the correct OAL

Personally I draw out what I want to do then submit. Building as close to that as possible.

I do have one that I mangled the tube up a tad while threading and just made shorter rather than purchasing a new tube and starting over. I'm not worried about it as shorter has always been fine.

YIPPY!!!!! my first form 1 finally got approved today!!!! It only took about 5 month's... BUT the funny thing is that I got a Email this morning saying that when I submitted my Form 1's; (I did 3) not all at the same time, and different size's.. one was for a .30Cal. and one for .45ACP I had used all the same serial number's (Example:) ABC 001, thinking that since there different type's... NOPE!! So I Email them back and changed Number's. So then BOOM!! the first Form 1, I submitted PASSED!!!
So those who are like me submitting Form 1's not reading the instructions on how fill them out... to be sure to use Complete different number & letters
Now I just hope the others get approved soon!!
