Pistol can blast in face

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

Form 1 titanium can. small blast chamber. 9mm can with gem tech booster. using Winchester 147 and Remington full metal jacket 147. when shooting im getting stuff hitting my face. I have to wear safety glasses. is this normal for pistol cans? I have a friend with a store bought can and he has the same problem.

Just be glad that you didn't test how well urine worked as a cooling medium like that one guy with SOF did a couple (ok, maybe 15 or 20) years ago.

How many pieces of spacer tube are you using?
If more than 1, you can move things around to add volume to the blast chamber and reduce some pressure.

3/4" blast chamber with titanium valve spring retainer for first baffle. the 1/2" spacers with deep formed freeze plugs the rest of the way out. I don't want first round pop. ( I have non now )

A friend has 1.25" blast chamber and he has bad first round pop.

Im wondering if I drill some small holes in the blast baffle and maybe the next two baffle to bleed some pressure.

Well, your weapon's pressure went up pretty significantly when you added the suppressor, and that back blast is due to residual pressure and/or premature unlocking. You might try a slightly heavier recoil spring, which will add a smidge of delay, and keep most of the projectiles coming out the muzzle-end... Adding weight to the slide could help, but most pistols don't have an elegant way of doing that, save some kind of big IPSC side charging handle.

Maybe the first baffle having a larger diameter hole and opening up into a larger chamber would help keep some of that gas from blowing back at you?

not sure what to tell you about the splatter (shooting a friends older gemtech wet it was happening) but dont complain about wearing safety glasses. you should of course always be wearing safety equipment during shooting but we all know this.

adding a "dater" whole in the blast baffle may help. some of the spatter may be coming from the chamber too

What length of tube are you using? What did you use for a bore diameter?

Tube length is 8" including end caps. but not Booster.

Blast baffle is a titanium valve spring retainer with about a 40 cal hole.

the hole size for all other baffles is larger than 3/8" can remember the size

I have a heavy recoil spring ordered in hopes of keeping it locked up a little longer.

thanks for the replies.

.355ish through a .400 hole might be a little on the tight side. I am by no means an expert but if people usually have satisfactory results using.45 caliber cans on a 9mm it probably won't hurt to look at opening it up to say 13/32nds(.406) or if you could find a 10.5mm drill bit that would be a touch bigger.

I'm not so quick to agree with this.

You could try removing the VR BB and hear/feel how that affects sound and port blast. If it helps, then noisecatcher's suggestion could be an option to let more pressure through to the next stage.
