New baffle idea?

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

New baffle idea?

Post by fishman »

has anyone ever tried a baffle like this:

A 60 degree cone but instead of clipping, scooping the front of it like a K baffle.
I imagine this would work great for a cartridge like 300 blackout. It would be heavier and more complicated than a cone baffle, but lighter and less complicated than a K.

Thoughts?

Yes, that design has been researched in the past and never madr it past prototypes due to performance. Lower performance than K's.

How does it perform compared to regular clipped cones?

The clipped cones work better hands down, as Bender said it has been tried, I even tried it and just wasn't happy with it.

i used to try that type of cone clip , the gas deviation is tremendous , you must port some of the cones to balance the pressure

Have you considered these 2 ideas from my previous posts?

I can't recall the Thread names.

I'm just going to do K baffles. I was really just curious about that design. Maybe I would've tried it if no one else had

These 2 ideas ARE modified Ks.

The 1st uses face and skirt porting to allow high pressure gases to vent into the interstitial spaces, then act as 1-way valve to restrict backflow.

The 2nd removes a section of the face to allow more gas to bypass mouth and swirl around the skirt prior to fighting it's way back up to the mouth. This adds both Dwell and Turbulence.
