Threaded Barrels That Can't Be Found

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

Threaded Barrels That Can't Be Found

Post by triggertrip »

What types of pistols are you guys receiving requests for threaded barrels for but can't find any. So far, I have received requests for the S&W Shield 9mm pistol for threaded barrels and just finished a productions run of 200 units. I have already sold all 200 but we are making a second batch within a couple weeks.

What other guns would you guys like to see threaded barrels made for??

Walther PPS 9mm (first gen)

I did see some companies offer barrel extending/threading of an existing barrel, but looking for a complete new threaded barrel if possible.

Excellent suggestions. I would strongly recommend NOT doing the extensions. They will void any suppressor warranty the second you strap it onto an extended barrel. Our barrels are all warrantied and insured.

I was thinking we will start with the:

1. Walther PPS 9mm
2. XDM (There is no 3.5. There is s 3.3 and a 3.8. Which one would you think would be preferred?)

If anyone is wanting some of the Shield 9mm TB's, please let me know. We are beginning our second run of 200 in two weeks so if you want some, please speak up. 100 of them are spoken for already from Brownells and RSR so don't be shy.

Can you please list the manufacturers that will void your warranty by extending and threading a barrel.

I haven't heard of A SINGLE manufacturer voiding their warranty when work is done by a reputable shop.

What is your shop/business name?

Sorry if I spoke out of turn but we have mostly been communicating with Gem-Tech and they mentioned that their warranty will not cover extended barrel thread and that "many other manufacturers are the same".
I simply took their word for it.

My business is TriggerTrip and we have been in business since 2009 but have just recently gotten into manufacturing. We are planning on doing suppressors too most likely but not sure yet.

I figured this was the case. That may be Gem-Techs warranty policy but it does NOT reflect all manufacturers.

Never a good idea to speak for the other manufacturers if you haven't spoken with the other manufacturers. No one manufacturer speaks for the industry.

We have been doing it awhile and not a single warranty voided. ;)

Let me guess, you confused the VP70Z with the VP9?

We are trying to offer people an alternate barrel besides their stock barrel. A lot of people like to have a second barrel for their pistol that has a thread on it. Additionally, you have to be very cautious about extending barrels since it can void warranties with a lot of suppressor manufacturers.

Have you put a list together of those that do and dont?

My list only has Gemtech and a few no names on it?

I haven't seen one for a Ruger LC9 or Sig P290 but then again I haven't aimed a Google search that way in a couple years.
Those convinced against their will are of the same opinion still.

Do you think a threaded barrel for the LC9 would even be sought after?

You know, honestly, it is your job to be compiling a list of suppressor manufacturers that DO NOT void warranty for your services.
I have spoken to AAC and they, IN FACT, also void warranty for extended barrels.
I would assume that most would and I would also appreciate you staying off my feed trying to push your company's services and giving people WRONG information. It is rude and unappreciated.

There isn't currently one for the FNS-9?? That is somewhat surprising except that maybe not that many people buy that particular pistol. That is the only reason I can think of.
