Hello again. After my successful 300blk can I made for my AR15 I want to make another for my Ruger bolt gun. This time around I think I'm going to "cheat" and use a pre-made tube and cups. From the options that are out there I see the first "cup" is very close to the muzzle. I could make a simple spacer but would lose a baffle and possibly increase FRP. I'm happy with the performance of my AR can but it does have a loud FRP but little back-gassing.
If my next can is dedicated to my bolt gun how close can the first baffle reasonably be to the muzzle? Or maybe it's better to ask how little blast chamber can I use without ill effects?

It's just a guess as I have no experience in 300 blk, BUT as close to the muzzle as possible with a little space for cushion.
With a bolt gun you don't have to worry about back pressure so a minimal size blast chamber would help significantly with frp.

Put the tip of the first baffle 1/8 - 1/4" off the muzzle. With no muzzle device you should be able to get an extra baffle in the tube.
