458 Socom build

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

458 Socom build

Post by BCJ »

Just finished my semi integral 458 Socom build. The tube, mount, and first 2 baffles are 304ss; the end cap and rest of the baffles are anodized 7075 aluminum. Baffles are simple 60 degree cones, all but the first two are clipped.
It's a 9.5" suppressor attached to an 8" Tromix stainless barrel to keep it a single stamp gun.
All parts were turned from bar stock. I still need to blast it to take the shine off for hunting.
1.75" od tube shoved in a 1.80" id handguard.

Another great job. Are you pleased with it.

Did you pin or weld it to the bbl?
The bbl must be perfectly centered in the handguard for that tight a fitment. Nice.

Are you anodizing at home?

There really wasn't enough meat to pin and weld since the threads are 5/8-24 with the .458 bore; I just tack welded it like the Libety integrals.
I just anodize at home so it's type 2
