Form 1....now needing tube source

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

Form 1....now needing tube source

So, now that the atf seems to have shut down the sale of solvent traps....where would the ones with an approved form 1 get their threaded tubes/end caps?

The ATF has not shut down solvent traps. There are several site selling threaded tubes.
Apogee
Diversified Machine
It's reported that SDTA will sell you a tube if you provide a copy of an approved 5320.1

Diversified machine is top notch. You can also get sizes other than ones based on flashlight for example 1.650 OD (I forget the ID he has for say TI) and used the 80% cones:

Form 1 cans are getting to be stupid easy.

Ninja Edit:
1.625 OD by 1.50 ID 9.5 TI tube

endcaps

With about 8 or more of these baffles:

Would be a great start to a 7.62 Form 1

Quick update on the providers above... I'm looking for the "final" part I need in order to measure and cut my last spacer then lube-up and test fire. The part I need is the brake-to-tube adapter, and I'm really struggling to find a shop to cut it. I was originally planning on Griffin Taper Mounts, but gave up due to the total price ($110ish for each of my ARs) + no info on finding the matching adapter for my tube. Form1 is back, holes are drilled, spacers are cut (exc the blast). Just no adapter...

Called Cross Hairs customs, and they told me they're not taking custom orders. They're backlogged over a month just for the parts they specialize in so "there's no line" for my request to be put in. Not rude, but not friendly or helpful.

Called Kineti-Tech, the US company that makes the muzzle brakes I bought for my ARs (direct thread-to-13/16-16 OD thread). They're not interested in making adapters, "since it's such a grey area". Disregard that the primary use of their 13/16-16 OD threads were designed to fit oil filters...

Email out to SuperPrecisionConcepts. Scott just answered and said they're swamped - not taking any new work.

Email out to CurtisTactical, no answer. But his site says he's taking a break. Can't blame them...

Email out to gunthreadadapters, no answer.

Solventrap.net is down.

RoninPro is down. (T-Rex says he found a statement that says they've stopped voluntarily.)

Prepper's Discount is up, for now, but they don't offer much in the way of Ti adapters.

Apogee - I bought their 7" Ti tube, and I can confirm it's very nice. Apogee doesn't answer its email, period. Not even simple questions about the "standard Maglite threads" statement on the front page.

Diversified Machine - I bought Chris's Radial End Cap and his work is spectacular. Don't expect him to answer his email quickly - he's too busy picking up everyone else's slack. I asked Chris to cut my adapter on 27Jan and he just emailed that it's on its way. I know it'll be worth the wait. Thanks Chris!

Sorry my short update wasn't sooo short.

Well dang. I finally, FINALLY got my form1 in a little while ago - submitted Mar last year. So, start to hit the saved bookmarks to see what prices are these days, only to find almost all of them no good anymore - gone. More reading finds that my favorites are no longer in the business :(

So, hunting around for sources. Looks like Medlining/Form1builder still has full kits, but I seem to remember some fulfilling-orders issues last year. JMPF also seems to have a couple of nice looking kits.

Who else is a good source of cups ? That seems to be the tough one to source ... Hrm, end-caps too I suppose.

Was reading some issues with apogee Ti tubes not being smooth ID, users were stating that the baffles/freeze plugs got tight in the middle and loose on the ends of the tube. Has that been the case?
