Retired gunsmith with a Form 1 ready to go.

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

Retired gunsmith with a Form 1 ready to go.

New to this board.
I have search this board, but not seen info related to anyone using software for simulations.
Am I overlooking this or software not used?

Followup question, since it does not seem to have been used, what are new designs based on?

Check the link in my signature. Ive ran solidworks flow xpress on my form 1.

Unless you have some crazy expensive specialized software, it isn't going to model whats going on inside a silencer.
