Simple question on muzzle brake mount

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

Simple question on muzzle brake mount

Post by Obiwanbonjovi »

I am currently deigning a 5.56 muzzle brake/qd monocore can combo for an sot partner of mine, and i have a simple question. The can will be located at the front of muzzle brake simply by a ring inside core the same diameter as muzzle brake, leaving a chamber around muzzle brake, and i was curious whether or not to isolate chamber around mb from the blast chamber with the locating ring at front, or should I interrupt the seal there to allow gasses to escape other than through boreline?
Thoughts? Reasons?
Thanks

From my experience, a suppressor will always benefit from as much gas delay as your design can provide

Kinda figured that much out already.

I guess i was asking whether a small thick walled chamber around mb would delay gas more or less than if i were to open up the id a little more and vent it as much as possible to the blast chamber, effectively adding volume, safety factor is not going to be an issue either way, but sound, and also longevity of blast baffle will certainly carry weight, burning up sacrificial baffles in the muzzle brake is fine if it will decrease burbing of blast baffle.
