I know that I'm not the only one that does this.
What ordinary everyday object have you looked at and said: I bet that would work good in a silencer.
People have already cashed in on maglites and fuel filters and pressed fender washers and freeze plugs.
Oh yeah. Another all time favorite, Engine valve spring retainers.
I saw something the other day and it just popped in my head that it would be the perfect ID for a rimfire can and would look great too.
All one would have to do is fabricate a rear endcap for it.
Who else see's ordinary objects and thinks: I could use this in a silencer?

The only reason after 243 years the government now wants to disarm you is they intend to do something you would shoot them for!

Can't say I really do. I design baffles in my head while trying to fall asleep, turn them into a tangible object within a few days.
There are lots of things that could be forced into that role, but nothing is gonna work as well as baffles made to be baffles!

just the other day I was replacing some shocks on a 3/4 ton truck and looked at the washer and was like huh. I bet this is what surefire uses in their cans.
it was a hemispherical washer with flat edges. the same curvature of a surefire can i've seen.
But I agree with ECCO I dream of designs quite frequently however I don't make mine into tangable items because I don't have a SOT. Mine stay in my head or sometimes MS paint/on paper. I have 5 that I want to do F1's for.....one day

Nothing wrong with designing baffles in your head. I've done that too. My blackout baffles rolled around in my head for literally years before I attempted to make them.
Sometimes though, I see something and my mind goes immediately to: I bet that would make a good baffle. Or, a good tube, or whatever.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who does that.

In college, everything was a bong.
The moments I was censored was the moment that I won. That's twice, now. Thanks jwbaker, et al, for my victories.

lol funny. I had 2 stoners as dorm mates and that is no lie! they used everything from toilet paper rolls with tin foil, apples, sobe bottles, and one of the crazy bastards even welded himself up a intricate one in fab class. Instructors were oblivioius or just didn't carepoikilotrm wrote:In college, everything was a bong.

You best believe if HPA ever passed I'd be doing like you mentioned all day every day. I have a few crown vic and truck axles chopped up into pieces just for such occasion. mystery metal! lol (most likely 1015)John A. wrote:Nothing wrong with designing baffles in your head. Everyone would be felons, all the suppressor parts just laying around.

Let see, A "Bong" is a device which converts high pressure gas at the ignition source to low pressure gas, which is then cooled by an ablative liquid, while the important part of the "payload" (D9THC) is passed out through the outlet while under external low pressure...In other words, its a suppressor!poikilotrm wrote:In college, everything was a bong.

As a designer and machinist I look for raw materials more than ready order parts.Hydro formed bicycle tubing has wonderful applications for the one off build.Heavy copper tubing and re-machined bronze plumbing parts make dandy suppressor housings and end caps that can be sweated together.
I have little doubt that bong enhanced suppressors have been designed and built as they have been in use long before gunpowder.
