I am just wondering what is the minimum tube size thickness should be for 300 win mag caliber.
I am looking for an answer for grade 5 and grade 9.
Thank you

I don't know where you're seeing any gr. 5 tube big enough to be a .30 rifle can (>35mm OD) with walls thin enough to qualify as suppressor housing. I haven't seen readily available gr. 5 tube over 35mm diameter with walls thinner than 3mm (.118"). You don't want that kind of weight, so unless you're going to dog bone it, you need to be thinking gr. 9.Willie16wild wrote:I am just wondering what is the minimum tube size thickness should be for 300 win mag caliber.

Gr. 9 CWSR .035" wall will take it, have put it to the test on 300 RUM and short barreled .308 machine guns. But I'd suggest .054"-.062".
Gr. 9 annealed is 40% weaker, so increase thickness accordingly.
The respective tensile yield strengths are:
Gr. 5: 128 KSI
Gr. 9 CWSR: 105 KSI
Gr. 9: 72 KSI

I am sorry i did forget to mention diameter. 1.5 inch
I am able to buy titanium in a solid bar in grade 5. So if i bought it i would have to machine it out. I did see you can buy grade 5 tubing from china haha. I didnt find any usa grade 5 tubing but i didn't look to hard for it.
I will probably be using grade 9 though cause its so much easier to find in tubing. I did not know about the grade 9 annealed that its weaker, but it makes sense.
Thank you for the help.
Can i also ask, if i used baffles should i weld them together or just press them in?
I am trying to get an idea here on my first build.

You clearly don't know what you're doing, and that's fine. Forget what you know. Read this
