.223 suppressor-comments on the proposal

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

.223 suppressor-comments on the proposal

Post by Jeanpierre »

Greetings to all

I would like to ask what do you think about this simple pseudo reflex suppressor design?
It has some potential to work or it's nonsense. Inspiration is in simple Finnish reflex suppressors
It is especially designed for simplicity and durability.
Weigh higher unfortunately :-(

Material:
Can, blast baffle is stainless
The rest is galvanized steel sheet

Thank you all for any suggestion to change before being welded

That isn't a reflex design.

Are you trying to kill the shooter using galvanized steel?

No, but I found tapered zinc-plated plugs that fit exactly into the tube and could function as baffles. The baffles sheet has a thickness of about 1.5-2mm

However, the angle is too small ..... as in the drawing

As 40 said, not a reflex.
You don't need 50mm, 38 is fine.
Galvanized won't last long. SS or Ti
Galvanized also won't kill anyone.

Here

It is basically the same as a reflex

galvanized steel sheet would certainly not be afraid, there is a life much higher than aluminum, rather comparable to stainless steel.

Rather, is it about whether this design will work well or something needs to be changed specifically for .223?

The 762 with a heavy bullet this works with 4 baffles quite decent, but I do not know what the fast cal. 223

It's not anything like a reflex. These are reflex designs: (they change angle of the forward moving gases 180*)

Galvanized steel will not be comparable to SS. We're not talking about strictly salt corrosion. Galvanized freeze plugs don't last nearly as long as SS.
This design should actually work better for 5.56mm than 7.62. However, as I already said, the 50mm is a bit large. The narrower designs work more efficient. Hence why I recommended 38mm tube.
