Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

For those who are new to thinking about designing a can
this presents a good conspectus of various internal designs.

Discussed cross section images at club and a question was asked,
has anyone made a can with the baffles reversed.

What triggered this was the playing of a trumpet ... small hole, flared
tube, loud noise.Mega phone. Is there not a can out there
with the last few cone baffles reversed?

Great pics! I'm amazed by all the cans with only two cone baffles. I suppose they're going for lightweight over super quiet?

I had the same notion while test-riding a Yamaha XS650 twin. The reverse megaphone mufflers note was highly sensitive to the exhaust pressure.

(anyone made a can with the baffles reversed) Yes and you do too. He built the .22cal M-2 Browning though his name escapes me!
The only reason after 243 years the government now wants to disarm you is they intend to do something you would shoot them for!

Nobody has done my idea. I really need a 3d printer.
