Which cones for 45 subsonic?
Which cones for 45 subsonic?
I’m planning a 10” D-cell diameter build for a 458 SOCOM with the intent to shoot 400-500 grain subsonic. Am I better off with 60° clipped cones or Ks?

Re: Which cones for 45 subsonic?
I've never built one, but from what I recall from other threads, start with cones, then the last couple could be Ks once the pressure drops so low that they need more advanced geometry to divert gas from the bore-axis.

Have you tried any searching for what others use?
Completed cans thread?
Commercial Manufacturers?
These are Bowers' 22 baffles. They are more complex than simple cones, and maybe provide a good middle ground:

Yeah, I'd stick w/ the 60deg cones. You'll be hard pressed to mess up a build w/ them.
K's work, too, but can be finicky in their design and execution.
The Omega baffles, pictured above, take a bit of tuning as well. Not something for the novice, IMHO.
