As we wait for a form 1.
As we wait for a form 1.
I have a 10" 7075 aluminum canister with 1.5" kcups. Can anyone help as far as what size the holes will need to be milled to? And the canister is stacked with 8 cups. Would it be best to reduce that by 2 and have a blast chamber. I'm just wanting my .223 to be quiet for once. Any help is appreciated.

Welcome.
As you are 'rolling-your-own' prudence dictates that
you purchase a Surefire Suppressor Alignment Rod
from Midway especially along the 10" length you are
building in Aluminum. In comparison to having to
get another stamp resulting from misalignment the
precision rod's cost is in the background noise level.
From past histories documented on this site
imprecise machining of the end cap at the barrel
is the first critical point of failure!
If ½" x 28 tpi thread circle center is not exactly that of the can's you
will markedly increase the probability of baffle strikes. You
might even see your can reaching the target soon after the bullet.
No Obama!
As for hole size over your length self-preserving cowardice
choses a diameter around ~.30". Intrepid souls will try slightly smaller.
Good luck. Keep us updated.
p.s.,especially for Aluminum baffles and can coat all
surfaces with any DOT 5 Silicone brake fluid such as
"Maxima Racing USA 80-81916 DOT 5 Silicone Brake Fluid". This will
make your cleaning residue markedly so much easier.

Re: As we wait for a form 1.
I have a stockpile of stainless rods from 0.224"- 0.500" on hand, from what I read and the pics. Looks to me that the surefire rods are 10-18" stainless. My last one was done at 0.265" and the sound was still not where I wanted it to be. I'd rather be around the sound of a pellet rifle if possible. The new canister will be in hand this week and I'll upload pics. So I can get all the info possible together while I wait on the form 1. Is it possible to gain the sound of the PR using a 10" can?

What is the velocity of your ammo?

The only reason after 243 years the government now wants to disarm you is they intend to do something you would shoot them for!

I have not heard a .223 that quite. A .22 or a 300 BO can be if you use a bolt gun, subsonic ammo, and correct suppressor design.
