I just read an artical on the AAC Cyclops on a MAC 50 , they raved about how well it work for its weight which is still 5lbs but considering the size on that thing it impressive.
Your brake/barrel adapter unit looks kinda like what i have in mind for a 12"x1.5" 300 winmag can
what parts of your silencer are you making from Ti to save weight>?

Jonny , do you have any concerns about the baffels or the break eroding prematurely from the initial blast? What grade is it?
I have heard that Ti is not the best thing to use as baffels as it gets weak as it gets realy hot , my thinging though is that the heat that a bolt of single shot rifle will put on it they should be fine

Grade 5 and yes I do have concerns but I figured what the hell and try it and if it does show rapid erosion I'll replace it with 316 or 17-4, I plan on doing some testing on just the brake when I get some time.
If you do a google search you'll see that there are quite a few Ti muzzle brakes out there including ones for 50's, and the Canadian military has some all Ti 338 cans in service.
I think for a bolt gun I should be fine.

I was only wondering because I'm having the same desgine ideas for a silencer build for a big 30 cal ,like 300 win and 30-338 Lapua imp and was planning to ue alot of titanium for the majority of the build , like the tube , end cap and most of the baffels only using 316 for the threaded end cap for attaching to the gun and a 718 inconell baffle for the inital blast. and maybe the brake but its such a pain the but to machine ,I like the idea of the brake made into the barrel adapter

I know its just bad for rapid use but at SHOT you had it on an M2 so I assumed it would stand for full auto and not just bolt. That is what it would lead one to believe.
If "God" has a problem with porn, and getting wasted, then I'm goin to hell..... Cus that's where I can suck jello shots off a hooker's tits.

The Cyclops is not made of Ti. You're confusing it with the Titan, which is available in Ti but is not a .50 can.lawless101aa wrote:I know its just bad for rapid use but at SHOT you had it on an M2 so I assumed it would stand for full auto and not just bolt. Go up a few posts. We are talking about the cyclops and it is made of Ti in parts. Silvers says so.

Uh the original question was about the cyclops and thats what we were talking about jesus. I assume this is the question Silvers was answering. I saw no mention of a 300 or a Titan. Where the hell did you get the notion I was talking about a Titan. Parts of the Cyclops are made of Ti. At the SHOT show they had it on an M2 which would lead me to believe it was all steel. However seeing the question asked and how it was answered I assume it was a prop. Just a oooo lookey thing. Robert can you clarify if some parts of the Cyclops are Ti.

^^^No, that question was directed to the OP, who is F1ing most of his can from Ti. He was asking, "Hey JohnnyO, what parts are you making from Ti on your F1 can?" Then you showed up and said "Probably none, since they had it on an M2 at SHOT." You were talking about a totally different can. Robert hadn't even posted yet in this thread, why would James have been asking about the Cyclops?
I have never, not once, seen any post or statement from any AAC employee that suggests any part of the Cyclops is made from Ti. AAC lists every material in a can (look at the catalog entry for the M4-1000, it says "Inconel and Stainless"). The Cyclops page says only "Alloy Steel."

I posted about the Cyclops being made for Ti as I had reciently read an atrical about that silencer tested on a 50BMG from McMillan
the can is huge , like 16" lonmg and 2.5" OD yet only weighs 5lbs ,or so it was stated in the artical as was that the majority of its make up was titanium and thats the reason for its light weight and near $3000 price tag.
