drawing help
other than free hand, or MS paint, are there any available on-line or free CAD type programs to draw some ideas with?
Re: drawing help
I used eMachineshop to do mine. It was intended as a way to have parts made for you and get a quote done for people wanting random parts made without a shop at hand. I just printed my design and stopped short of the quote process. It has a tutorial when you first open it up. It can be a little hard to get cylinders and baffles into a 3D render, but I was more interested in a working print anyway.

I was trying emachine shop, but i cant seem to make a cylinder. not sure what im doing wrong. I had planned to do just what you said, maybe have them make a custom muzzle brake if the price was decent

Re: drawing help
you can get free trials of ISMI TurboCad. Cubify design (low end version of alibre)
Not anywhere near as easy as pro/E but its free for a bit.

Keep calm, and suppress on
Re: drawing help
Autodesk Fusion 360 was free for hobbyists last I checked, I haven't used it in a while. I'm too set in my CAD ways to learn how Autodesk does things. There is always sketchup as well. I'm partial to Alibre Design which is now called Cubify Design. It's $200.00, but I don't feel like I'm missing anything using it and I use the latest Solidworks at work.

Re: drawing help
Google Sketchup used to be free, a decent 3D doodling program
I think Blender is still free.
There's also AutoQ3D and a few others.
