13.5 by 1 LH tap?

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

It's not a standard thread, so you're looking at a custom made one.
Better off taking the money and buying a minature indexable internal threading tool and single pointing the threads.

Omega_556,

The guy from E-taps does custom taps and I suspect that someone else has ordered it before so he had stock. I notice he now has 37/64â€

are you sure its not a M14x1 which is less than the nominal size, or just a conversion error.
I it is 13.5x 1 the internal diameter should measure 12.5mm
I have heard of threads on g3´s which was way below spec, which again caused the bfd to be blown of

What are you talking about?

13.5mm is the major diameter of the thread and 1mm is the pitch, it has nothing to do with wall thickness or internal diameter.

if he had the female part, he could measure the the minor diameter, which should be 12.5mm. I have never in my 20 years as a mechanical guy, heard of 13.5x1 thread

Mactool,

As I said it's not a standard thread. It's one the BT silencers invented.
The only reason that E-taps has them is that someones has special ordered them and Stephan has done extras.

80 bucks for a tap you (probably) only need once? Might be cheaper and faster to have a machinist turn them on a lathe. Plus you'll get the treads fitted to the part and probably straighter than the tap can make them.
