Making a can out of state

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

Making a can out of state

Post by JPH44 »

First of all let me say that this site has been very helpful.I have found a lot of good info just in the past week alone.

The thing I'm wondering about is,can I make a can outside of my state?I'm in Ohio but the machine shop is in Kentucky, will this be a problem?

Thanks

Since you don't need any forms for interstate travel with a silencer, I believe the answer is Yes, you can. Someone correct me if I am wrong, because I need to make new friends with a machine shop in-state...

I'm going to go with not a good idea. The NFA device is supposed to be made in the location specified on the paperwork and engraved on the item.

Would anyone ever know? Probably not. But why risk it?
