My first attempt at a monocore 7.62

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

My first attempt at a monocore 7.62

Post by tjsr19 »

Here is my first attempt at drawing a 7.62 mono core.
Image
My plan was to keep the first set of holes symmetrical. Then stagier holes the rest of the way. The end hole will be symmetrical with the bore. I would like to thread the core to the bore directly. I would have the outer tube thread on to the core and tighten to a lip. I would weld the end cap to the outer tube. I plan on making this out of 416 ss Other than that I need help with dimensions. What are you thoughts. Is there anyone that has done something similar... that is willing to share. I would love it if we could put this in 3d drawing but I don't have any cad software or experience since high school. I welcome your opinions and questions. Thank you all. Tom R

You need some expansion chamber action.

Why not go with 60% cones at .06 thick. You could then spend time designing the flash suppressor part.
Some may not put too much effort into the FH but it will prevent bore erosion at the muzzle

You could also research baffle spacing, blast chamber length, materials, welding, etc…

I build mono-cores for 22s but would not use it for center fire rifle

Big time. It might be dangerous as is. Wear safety goggles.

You definitely want to take a look at this thread:

You are probably going to want your expansion chamber to end where your third center circle ends. Probably at least 3" in length

Thank you very much. This is what I needed.
