There is no "standard" suppressor aperture diameter for a given caliber.

I would make the aperture diameter 20% greater than the barrel groove diameter as a median reference. Then, adjust that value for tolerances, length, concentricity, etc.

You could also use a tapered hole design.

That would be about .360
I was thinking .375 but was nervous about clearance.
The primary host will be a romanian sar-1 and also will go on my savage 111
would .400 be overkill?
Thanks

.400 is not the best bore size but it certainly isn't "overkill". Typically a larger bore/tapered bore lead to less blowback as it is harder for the gas to come back into the barrel than it is to leave the silencer.

The std is .375 and that's based on checking cans from Gemtech, SWR, SCRC and AWC in the past.

We have a .334 bullet channel in our .30 calibre NorthStar suppressors and a .342 bore on our jet-Z suppressors.

It would look to be tighter compared to many of the U.S. suppressors, however we have not received many complaints about accuracy or excessive point of impact shift, with thousands of the above mentioned suppressors sold over the last 10 years.

All our suppressors are checked atleast twice during production and our warranty return numbers are very few yearly anyway.

.370-.375 is what 2 of the major players are doing. i would go with something close to that.

this is exactly what I would have guessed. holding a 30 caliber bullet to a 3/8ths hole looks like it fits the bill to me.
