300 win mag can

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

looks great, two questions though

what solid modeling program is that?

whats the reasoning behind stepping the insides of the baffles as opposed to smooth cones for easier expansion?

For one, if you step the inside you take alot more material off as opposed to just cutting a cone (which is easier). Having less material gives you a lighter can with more volume. Nothing makes you feel worse though than cutting the last step inside the can and miscalculating, and watching your baffle fall in half. I did that once and was soo mad. DRO pays off. CNC is even better.

What made you decide not to scoop, bevel, or otherwise alter the entrance side of the baffle, Delta?

cad2010 3d mode (its what i learned on and used in various employment).

stepped the cones inside to save weight and cause turbulence.

the cyclone's uniform baffles helped in that decision. the builder of the can and i decided on max accuracy so we left the baffles not scooped or cut.

the gun the can is on is tuned and blueprinted, shooting sub 1" groups at 350 yards. we didnt want to affect that and will have range report soon.

you got nickel-chromium-moly based alloy for a main tube....This thing must be the strongest can on earth. I'm a fan of your material selection delta.

What inconel is the blast baffle? Had some experience with 718 Inconel that we tried to saw and it rolled the teeth over on the band saw! Some seriously tough material we had to get some serious tools in to machine it

thanks for the props bro. really this was a collaberation. i made recommendations and the builder said "well, i got this laying around and this and that" and i said go with it.

the builder knows his stuff as far as machining and welding etc. really.

Please share that info if you find a good supplier. I'm submitting another form 1 for a .30 cal can with hopes of building a lightweight can for up to .308. My big magnum can is great for sound, but pretty heavy.

it has been shot a few times. not by me but the owner/ builder. sounds like a 22lr just as any good can would (outside with no berms, roofs etc). slightly loud when shot under a corrugated metal roof as would be expected. pretty much as good as any can i have heard.

first shots were taken using hot hornady 165's at something like 3200fps. as soon as i have real vids you will all see.

i tried to tell some people i dont make this s--t up and im not playing around.
