Magpul Image Thread

Post by Stickman »

We may as well get a dedicated Magpul picture thread started.

I've done work photography work with 45 or so manufacturers within the firearm community, my images have been used for catalogs, magazines, covers, etc. I have also shot work for the US Military. I am prior service and a full time LEO.

I now also shoot and write for Military Times. My primary focus will stay with weapons, accessories and related equipment reviews. Manufacturers can reach me through any of the boards. Have something new? Let me know.

If my other PC did'nt crash I'd post a pic of my Noveske 300 whisper upper with Magpul PRS stock, MIAD, Magpull rail covers, and of course the PMAG 20rd mag. All FDE. I'll see if I can get the camera out and get a couple of shots of my setup.
Going a little more discrete here due to some of my opinions...

I have the magpul trigger guard on all my ar's, I use pmags and love them and are the only magazines I buy now. I contemplating switching the td for miad just college poor, also need to try out the new xtm panels. I forget who I was talking to at the shoot but they it was their first project with magpul and he was also telling me about their stock that will hopefully come out that is like a ctr with battery compartments like the sopmod which I would definitely be interested in. I still have blue balls from not getting to shoot the masada. :P

That's pretty sharp looking. When did ARMS introduce a forend that doesn't mount to the receiver rail???

I think that they have been out for about a year, but don't see very many of them.
Had this one milled out some so it would work with the ARES gas piston.

What kind of pivot pins are those?

Also, where did you get just an LWRC lower from? I thought they were only available as complete rifles?

sgtmajor,

Not at all! Right there with you! However, with the M6A3 piston upper she'll eventually have, she won't get very dirty at all!

pbauw,

They are the Yankee Hill Machine EZ Pull Takedown Pin Set:
yhm.net/store/misc.html
(Top item as a set or separately below)

I got them so I can break down or swap uppers more quickly if needed.

Here's a complete parts list:

LWRC Lower (2007 manufacture date)
Geissele Service Rifle Adjustable 2-Stage Trigger
Stag LPK with Ambidextrous Selector
Norgon Ambi-Catch
YHM EZ Pull Takedown Pin Set
Magpul Enhanced Trigger Guard (Non-folding)
Magpul MIAD Basic Kit
Magpul MIAD 123 Battery Grip Core
Magpul UBR

PMAGs (20X30rd + 10X20rd)
Magpul XTM Panels
TangoDown/ADM VFG
TangoDown/VLTOR Bipod

Note: KNS Gen II Anti-Rotational Pins were purchased but are not compatible with the Geissele trigger and are not needed.

Not shown:
Vickers Padded Sling
Matech BUIS

Here is the Duracoat recipe used by my gunsmith buddy:
2 tbsp Magpul FDE
1/4 tsp matte black
1/2 tsp hardener

Testors' Model Paint in selector markings with clear Duracoat over the top (Brownells Lacquer Sticks did not work for this application despite extensive research on instructions. The lacquer would not stay put.)

Edited to add:
I lucked into the last stripped LWRC lower from Coal Creek Armory. LWRC has them available now if you want one - just call them and ask for Tammy or Kelly and specify which caliber markings you want - 5.56mm or 6.8mm. The markings on the new ones are different than mine. They still have the pictograms but they have a full auto (infinity in a box) marking, which I don't like because it could cause raised eyebrows at the range when law enforcement is around.
