Triad Tactical,
First of all, thanks for the feed back both here on the forum and direct.
Second, there were some changes in the molding process last year that corrected the cracking issue. Since the correction there have been a very limited number of PMAG's with this issue and most have been tracked to heavy abuse.
We have seen around .02% of the mags shipped in the last two plus years returned with cracking issues. Of this .02% we have replaced the bodies no questions asked.
We are always improving our process to ensure the highest quality product, no BS.
Cheers.
I noted a Mold change in PMAGs I have bought in the last year and when I asked about it at SHOT this year, I was told the change was made to strengthen the spine of the magazines.
I have a bunch of PMAGs and have used them frequently. I've had zero issues with them.
One piece of advise about magazines I have taken to heart . . . "Don't fall in love with any magazine. If it starts fucking up, ditch it."
At the point that I have a PMAG go south, I'll address it with Magpul. Until then, I continue to shoot the piss out of them

You would think that people had never damaged a USGI mag. I've broken PMAGs, and I've ruined USGI mags. The difference is that a cracked PMAG continues to run, and a USGI mag with minimal damage to its feedlips does not.
This picture is part of a much larger review which is shown at the below link. This mag still functions quite well despise the intentional abuse it was given.

I've done work photography work with 45 or so manufacturers within the firearm community, my images have been used for catalogs, magazines, covers, etc. I have also shot work for the US Military. I am prior service and a full time LEO.
I now also shoot and write for Military Times. My primary focus will stay with weapons, accessories and related equipment reviews. Manufacturers can reach me through any of the boards. Have something new? Let me know.

I'd like to see a full magazine shot, and see if it works after that.

Neat, but I'm betting that you can get some cook off when you hit the rounds and I want to see what kind of damage that does.1_ar_newbie wrote:Well, The guys at the Gun Gallery ran over a full one with a party bus...apochachuva wrote:I'd like to see a full magazine shot, and see if it works after that.

Take a look at the thread I posted, we did a lot more than simply fire one magazines after we broke the spine. We also tore parts of the feedlips off, and shots rounds through it eventually breaking the spring, and it still fed and fired without any problems.
I've got a friend who ran over a PMAG in the desert with an armored tractor trailer they were running convoys with( I forget the designation). He laughed at the guys with trucks and buses.

Cook off? Thats from heat.... No rounds detonate from getting run over in the PMAGs, I've done it plenty of times proving it to guys on my department, and other agencies.

What if someone were to grill a PMAG, not saying I have a PMG, but, I think you could cook one off then. Which clearly makes it less of a product then USGI's.Stickman wrote:apochachuva wrote: Neat, but I'm betting that you can get some cook off when you hit the rounds and I want to see what kind of damage that does.

They shot an unloaded mag, but not a loaded mag, but I also think the bullet detonating inside of the magazine would be outside of the design parameters.apochachuva wrote:Not from running over, from shooting it.Stickman wrote:apochachuva wrote: Neat, but I'm betting that you can get some cook off when you hit the rounds and I want to see what kind of damage that does.

They did both. And I know this is outside parameters, but I think the pmag has a chance.BWT wrote:They shot an unloaded mag, but not a loaded mag, but I also think the bullet detonating inside of the magazine would be outside of the design parameters.apochachuva wrote:Not from running over, from shooting it.Stickman wrote:
