New owner of FA762SS - Questions

Post by Bamban »

Just took ownership of my FA762SS and used it in my LRB M25 M14 type rifle with 22 inch barrel. Using full power loads like M118 LRs, is it normal to get a face full of blowby?

What seems to be heaviest 308 projectile that is on people's list to make subsonic ammo?
I am getting conflicting responses on whether this model is rated for 300 WM, anybody knows from experience?

I am new to this noise reducers business, but got 2 more coming, a 22LR and a 556.

Thank you in advance.

A) Gas face - you are retarding gas via the suppressor in a gas operated rifle - so yes, perfectly normal. If your LRB is a match rifle your gas system has likely been unitized, otherwise your can adjust the amount of gas that flows through the system.

B) Subsonics - projo weight (for me) is less about simple weight vs accuracy, which means twist rate to stabilize a given weight - ie I not would shoot a 240 grn through my .30 cal can with a 1:12 twist, 1:8 - sure. Consult a reloading forum for this topic, know your rate of twist (likely 1:12 or 1:10 - either way you might want to check out 180 grn rnd nose lead hunting bullets and Trail Boss powder. Read up on mag v. large primer and lubing for accuracy)

C) 300 WM rated - yes, don't take my word for it - call them (I did)
