One more for the night
Anothter night without photoshop but here's another idea. I could get the brushed stainless look perfect on photoshop but this will do for the idea.

So far I'm digging sk8's latest post most. I think Mr. DeGroat's after a new typeface for his site name and web address, not so much a new logo, so I like how this one incorporates the look of his current logo into the font.
EDIT: I'm not a graphic designer, but at home I use GiMP for graphics work. It's a free application that does almost everything photoshop does and has an interface that's so close to photoshop it's a wonder they haven't been sued yet. I thought this might help out some folks who don't have/can't afford Photoshop.

I'm going to see if I could try that out. I can't really download much from here right now due to a really slow connection tho.Selectedmarksman wrote:So far I'm digging sk8's latest post most. Yeah, at least that's the gist I get. If you check out Mr. Degroat's website and look in the top, left corner you'll see a bit of Flash content that brings in the Company name and URL. I believe he's looking for a new design (to include a unique font/typography) that can be used there as well as in printed ads, on t-shirts, engraved on cans, etc.angelbeast6 wrote:I'm going to see if I could try that out. This isn't so much a new logo as styling the existing name and lettering. Think "Coca-Cola". Their branding is more than the name, it's how the name is written. The same with McDonald's, Maxim, The New York Times, or any 'big name.' Here is a random Google Image Search for 'name' and 'logo' to get the idea.
At least, that's my take on it. Mr. Degroat can correct me if I'm wrong.

Lemmi try some fonts... I could modify any one of these but would like a general idea of which direction to go with it before giving Degroat styling to 15+ different fonts.
Selectedmarksman: thank you for recomending GIMP. It's VERY similar photoshop and not too large to download.
Again, just testing the waters and trying to get a feel for what he's looking for.

yes now this guy has the idea, something that is custom and unique.angelbeast6 wrote:messing around some
I would like to see you guys do more custom looks instead of using premade fonts, unless they look way good.

Testing the water
I don't like them much, but at least it's an idea that someone might be able to build upon.
EDIT to add one more
I like the way this one came out but thoguht a wider "A" might look better.

LOL, ok ok ok.Selectedmarksman wrote:That last one has sort of a regro-geek, "Number 5 is alive" feel going for it. It's cute.
I was just looking aruond at different items that we have laying around and the fonts that they use. He did say military so I figured I would go with what I have at hand
BTW I had to google "number 5 is alive" to figure out it was short circuit. Still remember it tho.
