New 22 - Cheap scope suggestions?

Post by Loki_stormbringer »

Just recently purchased a Ruger 10/22 Tactical with the target barrel. Should be here Tuesday and I'm looking for a decent cheap scope to slap on it. Anyone have suggestions for me?

Mueller is a good cheap scope, I've been happy with the Nikko I have on one of my 22s ... somewhere between $200-$250 I think is what I paid for it.

What defines "cheap" and how far out you planning to shoot? Me I shoot out past 150 yards on a regular basis so a bit of magnification helps.

If all you're shooting is tin cans, turtles or squirrels out to 50 yards then there is a plethora of disposable red dots to choose from.

Would prefer not to spend more on a scope then I spent on the riffle. :D
That's what I meant by cheap.

Looking to get a scope now, maybe a decent red dot I could switch over to new AR later down the road.

Thx, and I'll check out the Mueller.

My Son put a NcStar MkIII 1.25-4 on his 10-22. It is working surprisingly well, holding zero, chipmunk accurate, no fogging issues when in and out of the cold. CDNN has them on sale $70.

Understood. I don't have less than $300 invested any of my rifles, even the 22s. Maybe not even the air rifles. :D

Look at Sightron. I have a few of their scopes and I'm impressed with the glass and overall quality of the scopes.

I have to say, I like the Chinese NCStar stuff for .22LR and genteel range use. You get a lot for the money. But NEVER for a rifle that I'd need to trust for life or protection.

I put a basic Nikon 4 - 9 zoom scope on my Savage MK2. The scope was $99 and does everything I'd ever need. If I had to do it again, I'd get something in a 2X to 5X zoom. I've found more power does little at .22LR ranges, and I like the FOV of the lower power scopes.

A Chinese EOTech clone would work nice as well. I've always been a huge fan of the reticle... so easy to acquire, both eyes open.

Primary arms - their red dots hold up well.
