Looking for Suppressor for Savage MARK II FV-SR
Looking for Suppressor for Savage MARK II FV-SR
I bought a Savage MARK II FV-SR bolt action .22 LR. Looking for opinions on the quietest suppressor to put on it. I don't have any 22 pistols right now so just interested in rifle suppression. Right now I am leaning toward the AAC Prodigy. It's light weight and appears to meter pretty quiet on a rifle. It's middle of the road in price. I'm mostly looking for quiet from the first shot to the last. No first round pop on a pistol would be a bonus in case I ever go that direction.
Re: Looking for Suppressor for Savage MARK II FV-SR
I run a Spectre on mine and I'm very happy with the suppression and accuracy.

Re: Looking for Suppressor for Savage MARK II FV-SR
I use a Silencerco Sparrow on mine and love it. It has some FRP on my pistol hosts, but not on the rifle. Very quiet of course with subs. CCI standards have proven to be the most consistent rounds through my rifle in terms of sound and accuracy. That being said, I would go with a Spectre having shot both.
Re: Looking for Suppressor for Savage MARK II FV-SR
Running an Element 2 on mine right now, and it is awesome with subs. Will have a Spectre II in a month, and it will live on the Savage. Can't go wrong with either one.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Re: Looking for Suppressor for Savage MARK II FV-SR
Thanks for the replies. Maybe I'll have to get the Spectre II.

Also a nice choice.paper9 wrote:Liberty Essence....
The problem is there are a lot of good 22 cans to choose from. Probably why I'm trying to collect them all.

Re: Looking for Suppressor for Savage MARK II FV-SR
I'm new here and new to silencers. Just got a Spectre 2 a few weeks ago. Have it on my Savage MK2 FV-SR. The threads on mine are .475 and Silencerco specs have the oring at .400. So my threads were going past oring and would get crudded up. Then when you go to remove it is crunchy. So I got the Silencerco adapter they sell on the site. The threads on the adapter stop at .400 and then it is smooth to engage the oring. Love the FV-SR with Spectre. Very quite with subsonic ammo and easy to clean. I'm thinking about getting another one.

I think I have decided on the Sparrow for the Savage bolt action. Now I just need Form 4 efiling to come back up.

Re: Looking for Suppressor for Savage MARK II FV-SR
I was deciding between the sparrow and the Spectre. What steered me to the Spectre was the individual baffle system. The sparrow uses a monocore and I new I was going to use my brass rotary tumbler to clean and thought the monocore would not work as well.
Re: Looking for Suppressor for Savage MARK II FV-SR
I have both and shoot both on my FVSR. I tend to lean more on the Spectre II, no particular reason. It's just really fun to shoot. I just got my 4" TACCOM AR upper and with the Troy rail I put on it, the Sparrow is to short to tighten and loosen very easily so the Spectre II works well on it. Which means I may be using the Sparrow for my FVSR. Don't want to hijack but does both the Sparrow and Spectre 2 need the .400 length threads? I bought spacers to use with it but couldn't remember if I need the spacer for both suppressors.

IIRC both suppressors benefit from being mounted at the correct thread depth.
One day I need to spring for the spacers for mine but I've just been too lazy and they still sound great without them.

Re: Looking for Suppressor for Savage MARK II FV-SR
I got my Spectre II in, and it is every bit as quiet as the Element 2 on my FVSR.
As to the spacers, they preserves the blast baffle, and makes taking the damned thing off easier. Zero sound change to my highly calibrated ears.

I have a Gemtech Alpine can and I got a Savage MK2 FV-SR for my bolt rifle.
Love the set up. I have a Ruger 10/22 TD as my semi-auto, just wanted something even quitter. I have that now.
The Alpine fits perfectly and doesn't add to much extra weight.

Re: Looking for Suppressor for Savage MARK II FV-SR
I only have one suppressor right now (an AAC Pilot 2), but it is insanely quiet on my FV-SR with subsonic rounds. I'd say mouse-fart level of silence. I can usually detect the sound of the firing pin striking the cartridge (unless I'm letting my imagination get the better of me). Nothing beats a suppressed .22 bolt action with subsonic rounds! I love my FV-SR!

Re: Looking for Suppressor for Savage MARK II FV-SR
I use a Sparrow on my FVSR. I would have no problem running a Spectre II also if I had one. I also added a washer to cut the thread length down on the barrel to around .400 as my factory FVSR has an "ar" length thread on it.
