PTR 91 supressed questions
Hey guys I have a new PTR91 model 112 on its way and I was thinking about tossing my silencerco chimera on it when I get my stamp back. I was wondering if anyone had any tips I’ve been scowering old forum posts I’ve seen everything from ppl saying “ don’t supress it” and pictures of blown up G3 type rifles to “ my PTR runs fine”. Anyone know if these were just issues with earlier PTR rifles and it’s improved over the years?.do I need a new buffer and specific locking pice or should the rifle be good to go?. Thanks for any info you may have

Re: PTR 91 supressed questions
You’ll need to clean the weapon. A LOT. HKs have been running suppressed for decades now. The biggest problem is fouling.
The moments I was censored was the moment that I won. That's twice, now. Thanks jwbaker, et al, for my victories.
Re: PTR 91 supressed questions
I read somewhere (a long time ago, 20+ years) that to fire a HK91/93 type rifle suppressed you have to replace the rollers in the bolt head with smaller diameter rollers. This allows it to slip easier under the higher back pressure caused by having a can on. Now where you would find the information to determine how much smaller rollers to get or where to get them, I have no clue.

I thought it was to make it harder to unlock, because the higher pressure would unlock too earlyThis allows it to slip easier under the higher back pressure

Great thread. Makes me miss the good ole days on here.
