I can't decide if I want to build a 10-12" 300 whisper SBR or an 18" 6.8 SPR.
WIll probaly use for hunting deer sometimes and will be run suppressed 90-100% of the time.
As of right now I do not reload but want to get started in the near future,
mostly 223 and 6.8 (300 whisper if I build one).
What kind of accuracy can I expect from an SBR 300 whisper.
With the 6.8 SPR it will also be eqiupped with the PWS gas piston system.
I have been wanting to try one out, it has a suppressed and unsuppressed setting on it.
I have read that unless you get a complete SSK upper the chamber will not be to 300 whisper specs do to it being patented
Help me out with some suggestions
New upper build- 300 whisper or 6.8 SPR
+1 for the 300 whispergimp2x wrote:the patent thing you mentioned is bogus
the biggest frustration I had was that nobody sells a chamber/case gauge, but SSK shipped me one for $35
I'd say 300 whisper, you don't need custom mags...but I highly recommend a pistol length gas tube with adjustable (set screw, not switchblock) gas block

or for the most Quiet

Whick barrel manu. would you recommend(I want to go SS)
If you only shoot Sub ammo then a 10 inch barrel will work fine.
SSK or Novese is the best but there is others that are good.
If you can go with the gas port hole in the pistol position
then you can do a SBR or integeral.
Soon my AR 16inch barrel will be integeral so I left it long until then.

Here is a forum that has alot of what you will need to know
before you build.
