Best, affordable lower (stripped or complete)?

Post by Selectedmarksman »

Ok, well the manufacturer I originally chose hasn't replied to my multiple emails for a month.

Can someone recommend a good, afordable lower to go with to register and build an SBR on? I'll take it either stripped or complete, but no point in buying a full rifle if I'm going to buy a shorty upper eventually anyway.

I recently SBR'd a DoubleStar lower and am quite pleased with it. It fits tightly with my CMMG upper and has a dark finish that matches the upper perfectly.

Excellent. Double-Star is just down the road from me too. Does anybody know if we actually have to have our name/city/state engraved? The ATF keeps flip-flopping.

Stag arms.

Love it.

Had a 2 stage match trigger put in it, like it better than my Bushmaster.

theres a thread on what not to get and thats a RRA, they have trouble mating with uppers, the complete rifle is da bomb it comes with a 2 stage trigger and Hogue pistol grip, my guess is Bushmaster but there are plenty of lowers out there,DPMS,Bushmaster,Colt if you can find them, there are more but its late at night and Im sleepy.

thought of another two Olympic Arms,Eagle Firearms.

Other than RRA's funky dimensions and colts persistance on large firecontrol holes and off sized front takedown pins holes. Any of the forged lowers are fine....CMT, LMT, Double star, stag, bushmaster, etc....

I think the least expensive will be stag or CMT. THe only other consideration is resale. The more well known the name the better off you are if you try to sell it.

Thanks for all the tips, guys! If the Dems take back Congress I may go buy a lower tomorrow while I still can. I was also 'Selectedmarksman' over at AWBansunset.com, if anybody ever visited those boards. One "Assault Weapon" ban (shown to have a statistically insignificant effect on crime) was enough, who knows what they'll think of next.

$115.00 S/F
$125.00 2 Picto grams.
$135.00 3 Picto grams.

Markings are on both sides.

Very cool indeed, but an extra $10 for a picto instead of safe/fire, and another $10 difference between the two picto's? Kind of hard for me to justify that : /

Ah... I just noticed your location and the name of the manufacturer.

No offense intended. I'm just shopping for an inexpensive supplier of lowers so I can stock up on a few before Pelosi and her gang create some more anti-gun legislation. They're beautiful lowers, I'll have to settle for some DPMS or Double Stars for now.

Have you heard of any problems with my lowers or location ?

Stuff costs money when it is not made in China by children. $135 strikes me as a really low price. $10 is the tip I gave the girl who washed my dog today.

Absolutely not. I was just putting two and two together and realising it equalled having my foot in my mouth. Again, no offense was intended.

Check out CMMG, they can build you a factory SBR.

Scroll down to the SBR's.

RRA is good stuff. The tight ones give way and the good ones are great.

I ended up buying a complete RRA CAR-A2 rifle from a pawn shop for a pretty decent deal. The fit and finish were solid and it came with the NM 2-stage trigger. It's cheaper than my other build totals were, and saves me labor. I'll give more of a review when I take it to the range.
